During the First World War centenary I was involved in the creation and delivery of a wide range of commemorative events, both as a consultant to Government departments responsible for national and international remembrance, and as the Director of the Gateways to the First World War five year programme of public engagement activities.

Transforming research into formats accessible to broad audiences is something I've always been passionate about, and your organisation can now benefit from my experience in devising innovative, creative and engaging events and activities for all ages to deepen understanding and knowledge.

I regularly go into schools to provide interactive workshops and talks, and have also devised and led a battlefield tour for year 6 pupils. In addition, I was a steering committee member for the Schools' First World War Centenary Battlefields Tour Programme.

Do get in touch to discuss your ideas and requirements with me.

  1. I worked with Mark on a project on Folkestone Harbour Arm. This brought the scale of casualties  from WW1 home to audiences with a stunning film projection. He worked on several other community projects including “Step Short” in 2014.  This was commemorating the ten million men who passed through Folkestone on their way to the Western Front. He is very talented at explaining and illustrating the human side of conflict and bringing history to life for people of varied background knowledge.

I commend Mark Connelly to anyone considering engaging his services in the future and am confident that they will not be disappointed.
